Before advanced water treatment, it's crucial to address key impurities through pretreatment. This includes removing suspended solids, turbidity, color, odor, and bacteria.
Common pretreatment technologies are
- Pressure Sand Filters (PSF) : To remove suspended solids and partially turbidity.
- Activated Charcoal Filters (ACF) : To remove color and odor.
- UV / Chlorination / Ozonation - For disinfection then remove any remaining bacteria contamination.
For water with high turbidity, chemical treatment like alum can also be used.
- Raw Water Pump : Centrifugal pumps from suitable brand.
- Filtration Systems : Pressure Sand Filter (PSF) and Activated Charcoal Filter (ACF) for thorough pre-filtration.
- Water Softener / RO (If desired) Water softner for removal of total hardness from water and RO for the removal of total minerals as TDS from water
- Chemicals Dosing Suitable chemicals dosings like Alum for turbidity removal and sodium-hypo for precise bacterial impurities removal
For water with high turbidity, chemical treatment like alum can also be used.
